King Ludwig`s Beer Garden in Helen

Hands down the best pretzels in Helen. Always a must stop here when we are in town. After a day of tubing or walking around shopping, the perfect place to get a cold beer and a huge soft pretzel :)

Nice place to enjoy a sunny afternoon while having a drink and listening to live music. The pretzel is very large and was good. Nice views around the square and great people watching.

A great place to hang out

When I saw the sign “Biergarten,” I was expecting a large selection of German beers. There were not many options. It’s a tourist trap like the rest of Helen, GA.

We had an extremely pleasant time at this bar on Monday September 9, 2019... good beer, great service, and singing bartenders! Also got a spot-on referral for the best German cuisine.

Always a blast. It doesn’t matter where you go in Helen to hang out it’s always an adventure and full of excitement.

We were in Helen today and decided to stop at King Ludwig's. My husband got a beer, my sister a margarita and I got a salty dog. The bartender turned his back to her to where she could not see what he was doing as he was supposedly pouring the tequila in her margarita and again the same with me when he was supposedly pouring the gin in my glass. Everything else was done in clear view. We sat down with our drinks - there was no tequila in her margarita and no gin in my salty dog. The bartenders are a joke, don't pay attention to their customers and apparently like to rip people off. Second time I've been there - first time we walked off because the bartenders couldn't be bothered to pay attention to us and now this time. We will never go back and from now on, when friends ask for recommendations when they are going, which is frequently since we have many people at my work that have yet to visit Helen, GA, I will make sure to tell them to avoid King Ludwig's at all cost.

Outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Love it here! The giant pretzel is so gooooooood! Josh behind the bar is very helpful and friendly. Eric and Carl are amazing in the kitchen. That pretzel tho!

Please let us know what you think, we are an outside bar located in Whitehorse Square in the middle of Helen Georgia. We might not have the biggest and most extensive German menu we are a small bar that does a lot of business, sometimes that business has us to run out of beer and or food and or alcohol but we are always willing but the happy heart and a smile on her face to make sure that I'll customers have a good experience.

Pretty sweet spot we visited during Oktoberfest! The service was pretty quick despite the huge crowd. They had a great band playing and it was safely organized. Will return.

Our favorite bar in Helen, located right in the middle of the action. The staff is friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is perfect, and the prices are reasonable, especially for a tourist town.

Always a great place for a beer. Food was actually really good too. Not a very good selection of liquor to choose from. Great for people watching and I always meet people to talk to.

Good German beer in a fun setting with live music. Open air in the central square. First they told me the credit card machine was down then they charged me $20 for an $11 beer, then they did it to the person behind me and argued that he gave them a $10 bill. Wish this place was better because it had so much potential.

Great place! The live music is awesome, and you really feel like you may be in a German Biergarten. Helen in general is an awesome family-style place to visit. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is how long it takes to get a beer. It was rather busy when we went, which was not the problem. I was literally the third person in line, and it still took 20 minutes to order. If they fix this, this open-air place couldn’t be beat (in good weather)!

Great food, authentic atmosphere, friendly people

A typical biergarten with umbrellas and tables, wurst and beer! They have a nice selection of German beer as well as some American brews. Small menu of wurst, sauerkraut and potato salad. The potato salad was better than at another German restaurant. Staff is friendly and service was great. They are dog friendly and have a watering station for your pets. Would definitely return.

The nightly live music was really good. The band had a good variety of cover songs and sounded really well. The outdoor taps offered a bunch of selections and the one with the bar offered food and had a server so you didn’t even have to go to the bar. There are a couple little shops and restaurants surrounding it too. There was one restaurant that also had live music upstairs...like authentic German music that totally clashed with the Biergarten music.

Nice place and good people watching if you can get parking

It was ok. Bartender was focusing on some chicks and the atmosphere was lacking. Pretzel was good but hella expensive.

Went Friday night and they only had 2 servers on the whole floor. Had to go to the bar. Good drafts to choose from. Live music repeated the songs after 2 hours. Best pretzel and beer cheese ever for $10.25!

Horrible, horrible service! Sat down and immediately the server took a smoke break and didn’t get our drinks. Finally comes and takes our drink orders and brings them to us with an attitude THEN never comes back to check on us until I go to the bar to try to get another drink. Never was helped at the bar as well.

It's outdoors which can suck if it's cold but it was sunny today which was nice. The pretzels are huge and the beercheese that comes with them are great. The potato salad was some of the best I've ever had and the sauerkraut and sausages were also fantastic! This is probably the cheapest price for German food in Helen and it was very very tasty. The service was good and the workers were super friendly and funny!

Great atmosphere, bartenders a little on the slow side, but very friendly. Live musician that played country music and was a very good singer. We will go back on out next trip.

Helen is a nice place to visit if you want to try German cuisine in the US. Also a great area for outdoor photography especially waterfalls.
